If you’re planning a family getaway this May half term, North Norfolk is packed with fun days out, beautiful beaches and some great local events. From woodland adventures and steam trains to sandy beaches, crabbing and fish and chips by the sea, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained over the May school holidays.
Here are some of our best things to do this May half-term in North Norfolk.
Magical World of BeWILDerwood: Buy One Get One Free
A family favourite every half term, BeWILDerwood is a magical woodland adventure park filled with treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges and imaginative outdoor play.
This May half term, families can take advantage of their fantastic buy one get one free offer, making it a better value day out. Perfect for energetic children who love climbing, exploring and getting outdoors.

Bure Valley Railway: Everything Goes
One for train lovers! Just down the road in Aylsham, the Bure Valley Railway “Everything Goes” event is always a hit with children and adults alike.
Enjoy a nostalgic journey through the Norfolk countryside through to Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads. Steam trains, countryside views and family-friendly fun make this a brilliant half-term day out.
For even more railway adventures, you can also hop aboard the North Norfolk Railway between Holt and Sheringham for a classic steam train experience along the coast.
Discover the Pokémon Trail at Blickling Estate
Pokémon fans won’t want to miss the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Trail at the stunning Blickling Estate this half term.
Set within the beautiful grounds of the historic estate, children can follow the trail, solve clues and enjoy an outdoor adventure inspired by the world of Pokémon. Combine fresh air, nature and family fun.
While you’re there, take time to explore the beautiful gardens, woodland walks and café at this magnificent National Trust estate.
Get Outdoors at Holkham Estate
Holkham always puts on fantastic family activities during the school holidays. Families can enjoy circus skills workshops, high ropes adventures, cycle hire and woodland play areas, alongside the breathtaking scenery of the estate itself.
The woodland play area is free to enjoy - you simply pay for parking - making it a perfect budget-friendly family day out if you don’t want to pay for the full estate.
And of course, no visit to Holkham would be complete without a walk to the spectacular Holkham Beach or nearby Wells Beach, with their famous dunes, pine woods and colourful beach huts.

Enjoy Classic North Norfolk Beach Days
No trip to North Norfolk is complete without time by the sea. Whether you’re visiting Cromer, Sheringham or Wells-next-the-Sea, there are endless ways to enjoy the coast. Spend your days rock pooling, crabbing, bodyboarding and building sandcastles on the wide sandy beaches, before tucking into traditional fish and chips by the sea. A walk through the pine woods to Wells Beach is always a favourite, with colourful beach huts, beautiful dunes and plenty of space to run free.
Free Play Area at Sandringham Estate
A bit further round in North Norfolk, Sandringham’s woodland play area remains one of the best family spots. Children can climb, explore and burn off energy in the huge outdoor play space, while adults enjoy walks through the beautiful royal parkland. This time of year the Rhododendrons will hopefully still be out to see on the woodland walks.
The play area itself is free to use, again you simply pay for parking, making it a brilliant low-cost day out during the holidays.
