Owls, Creepy Creatures & Halloween Fun in the Woods
Halloween comes to Deer’s Glade in Norfolk on Saturday 31st October, with a special ticketed event open to both guests staying with us and day visitors. Meet the creepy creatures from Bert’s Amazing Creatures, get up close with the birds from Norfolk Owls, and follow our Halloween Trail, with a small prize for everyone who completes it. The animal experiences will run across two relaxed sessions, 12 noon-2pm and 2pm-4pm, while the trail will be open throughout the day to enjoy at your own pace. Numbers are limited for each session, so advance booking is essential.

Meet Bert’s Amazing Creatures
Bert’s Amazing Creatures will be joining us with some of Bert’s scariest creatures, including a tarantula, snakes, giant millipede and rat, plus either a gecko or bearded dragon. It’ll be a relaxed experience rather than a formal show, so you can drop in during your allocated session, meet the creatures, learn more about them and, if you’re feeling brave enough, get a little closer. Bert and his creatures will be based in a heated tent, so they'll be ready to meet you whatever the October weather brings.
Get up close with Norfolk Owls

We’ll also be welcoming Norfolk Owls, giving you the chance to meet some incredible birds up close, learn more about them and ask the team plenty of questions. Visitors aged five and over will have the opportunity to hold an owl, supported by one of the Norfolk Owls team, with the chance to take photos too. Exactly which owls will be joining us won’t be known until the day, as the birds are carefully monitored and weighed to decide which are best suited to attend. The team hopes to bring a Barn Owl, British Tawny Owl, some of their smaller owls and potentially some of their largest birds - so part of the fun will be seeing who arrives!
How will the two-hour sessions work?
Your ticket gives you access to both Bert’s Amazing Creatures and Norfolk Owls during your chosen 12 noon–2pm or 2pm–4pm session. You don't have to spend the whole two hours with the animals; you can move between the two experiences and enjoy the rest of Deer’s Glade too. While you’re here, families can also enjoy our play area, visit and feed the goats and purchase refreshments, so your ticketed animal session doesn't have to be the beginning and end of your visit. Dogs are welcome on-site, however, they must be on a lead and will not be allowed near the creatures or birds.
Follow our Halloween Trail

There’ll also be a Halloween Trail around Deer’s Glade, with a small prize for everyone who completes it. Unlike the animal experiences, the trail will be open throughout the day, so you don’t need to complete it during your two-hour session. Take it on before or afterwards and enjoy it at your own pace. The trail is outdoors, so come prepared for whatever the autumn weather brings. Wellies, warm layers and waterproofs may need to become part of the Halloween costume!
There’s more Halloween fun planned at the park throughout half term too. You can find everything happening during your stay at Deer's Glade in our October at Deer’s Glade blog.
Food & drink at Deer’s Glade
You won’t need to bring a packed lunch either, unless you choose too - we do also have a small picnic area - we also have Wake Up and Shake Up from 12 noon-6pm serving coffee and pastries, as well as our evening food vendors on-site from 5pm-8pm. See which food vendors are visiting this October half-term.
That means there’ll be plenty of opportunity to grab something hot for lunch or dinner, a waffle or a warming coffee during the day.
Visiting for the day or staying for half term?
You don’t need to be staying at Deer’s Glade to attend. Halloween tickets are available to both guests staying with us and day visitors. If you’d rather make a break of it, October half-term is a great opportunity to stay a little longer. Choose from cosy glamping pods and retreats, our holiday cottages, or bring your caravan or motorhome and stay on one of our pitches as a touring or camping guest. If you usually love camping but aren't so keen on sleeping under canvas once summer is over, our heated camping pods provide a warmer and more sheltered way to keep that camping feel.
There’s plenty happening beyond the park as well, from Halloween events and family attractions to autumn days out around the North Norfolk coast and countryside. We’ve brought some of our favourites together in our things to do locally during Halloween and October half-term blog.
