As we’re in a rural location there are many lovely walks and cycling trails nearby. We have a small woodland walk on site but if you’re looking to venture further we can provide a map with where we recommend locally. Please ask reception. We’d recommend the Norfolk Coast Path and Cycleway that stretches from Hunstanton to Cromer. You’d need to drive to the coast. The full walk is a long way, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the walk in smaller chunks. Plus, you can catch the Coasthopper bus on the way back to where you have parked.
The closest beaches are Overstrand (6 miles), Cromer (6.5 miles), West Runton (8.5 miles), Mundsley (9 miles), and Sea Palling (17 miles).
Cromer and Sheringham have a nice selection of local shops. For a shopping experience and a day out, the best place to shop is Norwich city centre which is 18 miles away. You’ll find big brand names as well as independents down Norwich’s quieter lanes and streets. Plus, you can take in some history by visiting Norwich Castle and Norwich Cathedral at the same time.
There is no dining available onsite, however, during bank holidays, school holidays, and the summer we arrange a number of food vendors to visit the site. Enjoy the delights of wood-fire pizza, gourmet burgers, bubble waffles, homemade cakes, and more. Take a look at What's on for latest information.
Locally you’ll find The Cricketers in Aldborough, Banningham Crown, The Gunton Arms, and The Suffield Arms. Each offers lovely food, but you will need to book in advance. For something a little less formal there’s Alby Craft’s Artisan Cafe. Traditional pubs include The Spread Eagle and The Alby Horse Shoe Inn. We’d also recommend The Black Boys in Aylsham and The Bucks Arms at Blickling. If it’s a takeaway you’re after, we’d suggest visiting Just Eat for an up-to-date list of delivery options.
The Alby Horse Shoe Inn is the closest pub. It’s on the main A140 road, however, we can recommend a more scenic walk to get there. It’s approximately 1.8 miles from the site.
Bike hire is available through a local business, Huff and Puff Cycles. Simply get in touch and they will deliver to you at Deer’s Glade. Please give 48 hours' notice to avoid disappointment. Take a look at their website for prices. Give them a call to make a booking on 07500 865095.
The play area includes two climbing frames complete with a fireman's pole, slide, and balance beams. There is also a spinning seat, basket swing, and a well-kept sand pit. Great for younger kids.

You can also meet Ragnar, Hugh, Sandy, Daphne, and Emma at our onsite goat enclosure. A firm favourite with our younger guests. Food to feed the goats can be purchased at reception.
Our site is very family friendly. There’s room to run, play games, and be kids.
There is our 1-acre fishing lake onsite. Norfolk as a whole offers a wide choice for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Visit the nearby Norfolk Broads or fish off the pier at Cromer. Learn more about fishing in Norfolk here.
