What comes included with each pitch?

We have three types of touring/camping pitches.

  1. Deluxe hard-standing pitch with 16 amp electric hook-up and TV points. Some pitches are suitable for tents and trailer tents.
  2. Deluxe grass pitch with 16 amp electric hook up and TV points.
  3. Fully serviced hard-standing pitch with drinking water, waste water disposal, 16 amp electric, WiFi & TV points. There is currently one fully serviced pitch.
Are cables available for electrics and TV hook up?

Guests can either bring their own electric cables or they can be hired at reception. There is a £40 fully refundable deposit required. 

For TVs, you’ll require a coax cable for connection. If guests do not have their own, these can also be hired at reception for a £10 fully refundable deposit.

Funds will be reimbursed when the cable has been returned.

Can I park a car on the pitch?

Yes, you can park one car at your pitch. This is included in the nightly rate. If you wish to bring a second car, there is a small extra charge. This can be included at the time of booking online or by phone.

What type of touring vehicles are permitted on site?

We accept motor homes, caravans, campervans, and RVs. You will be asked at booking the approximate length of your vehicle.

Where is the fully serviced pitch situated on the site?

The fully serviced pitch is number 71. This can be found next to the Woodland Glamping Retreats and the laundry shed at the corner of the site. You’ll find it on our site map.

What is the difference between a campervan and a motorhome?

A campervan is a converted van and a motorhome is a purpose-built vehicle.

Do you have seasonal pitches?

Yes, we have seasonal pitches onsite. Please get in touch to find out more.

Can I bring an awning or gazebo?

Yes of course. There is a small additional charge of £2 a night to include an awning or gazebo with your booking. This can be included at the time of booking online or by phone.

Can I select which pitch?

Yes, you can choose your pitch. This will always be subject to availability when booking. If there is a specific pitch you would like to book, please get in touch to secure it.

Can I dispose of waste for my caravan or motorhome on-site?

Yes, there are both grey waste and chemical waste disposal facilities on-site as well as the opportunity to fill up with water via a hose.

How widely spaced out are your pitches?

Each pitch has ample spacing between with a well-maintained hedge divide.

Is there a specific orientation to pitch?

No there isn’t.

How big are your touring pitches?

Our pitches are 13m x 13m.

Do you offer storage for touring vehicles?

Yes, we do. We offer both undercover storage (minimum of 12 months) and temporary storage options subject to availability. Please get in touch for pricing. As a guide for a single axle caravan up to 26 feet a monthly fee is approximately £60 per month. A single axle over 26 feet or an all-twin axle caravan is £70 per month. The caravans are stored off-site in undercover storage units.

What is a fully serviced pitch?

We have one fully serviced pitch (No. 71). This includes water, waste disposal, 16amp electrics, and a tv point.

How widely spaced out are your pitches?

Each pitch has ample spacing between with a well-maintained hedge divide for electric pitches. Non-electric pitches are not split by a hedge and are 5 metres apart.

Can I select which pitch?

No, sorry your pitch will be allocated based on availability.

How big are your camping pitches?

Our pitches are 12m x 12m.

Can I bring a gazebo?

Yes of course. There is a small additional charge of £2 a night to include a gazebo with your booking. This can be included at the time of booking online or by phone.

Do you have glamping pods with hot tubs?

Yes, we do. We have five Luxury Glamping Retreats each with a hot tub. Two Mega Pods include wood-fired hot tubs. The Retreats include dressing gowns for use during your stay.

Is there parking at the glamping areas?

Luxury Glamping Retreats have their own parking. Bell Tents and the Shepherd’s Hut have an allocated car park area and so do the Mega and Standard Camping Pods.

Are there toilet and shower facilities in the glamping pods?

The Mega Pods include a WC and wash basin only. There are shower and WC pods for the private use of our glamping guests. These are positioned at both the Bell Tents and the woodland Mega Pods. The Luxury Glamping Retreats include shower rooms.

Are bedding and towels provided?

We provide bedding and towels in the Luxury Glamping Retreats and Bell Tents. 

These are also available for the Mega Pods at an additional cost of £30 a set. Please contact us before your stay at least a week before, to arrange. These can be added when booking. To add to a booking please call us on 01263 768633.

How many people can sleep in the Mega Pods, Bell Tents, and Luxury Glamping Retreats?

All glamping accommodation sleeps 4 people.

What kitchen equipment and welcome items are included?

The Luxury Glamping Retreats include a toaster, kettle, fridge, and microwave, standard utensils, cutlery, and crockery, salt and pepper, milk, tea, and coffee, basic washing up equipment, travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, and 2 toilet rolls.

Bell Tents include a toaster, kettle, fridge, and microwave.

Mega Pods include a kettle, fridge, and microwave, milk, tea, coffee and 2 toilet rolls.

Is there a private terrace and decked outside space?

Yes, the Mega Pods include decking, picnic table, a fire pit and BBQ cooking plinth (BYO disposable BBQ).

The Luxury Glamping Retreats include a hot tub, decking, private wood-chip garden, fire pit, picnic table and access to a fishing swim (Lakeside Retreats Only).

Bell Tents and the Shepherd's Hut have an outside space with picnic table, a chiminea and BBQ cooking plinth (BYO disposable BBQ).

How many people can sleep in the Cottages?

The Fox and The Hare accommodation sleep 4 people.

Is there parking at the cottages?

Yes, there is parking for two cars at both cottages.

Do you have cottages with hot tubs?

Yes, we do. Hare Cottage includes a hot tub and dressing gowns for use during your stay.

Are bedding and towels provided?

We provide bedding and towels at both cottages.

What time is check-in?

Check-in is 2 pm for all touring and camping guests.

Check-in is at 3 pm for glamping and cottage accommodation.

What time is check-out?

Check-out for touring and camping pitches is at 12 pm.

 

Check-out for glamping and cottage accommodation is at 10 am.

Is early check-in available?

Yes, early check-in is available subject to availability. If you would like to check in early please contact us the week of arrival. 

Early check-in for touring and camping is available from 12 pm for an extra £10. If you wish to arrive at 9 am, there is a half-day fee applicable.

Early check-in for glamping and cottage accommodation is available from 12 pm for an extra £15. If you wish to arrive at 9 am, there is a half-day fee applicable. Subject to availability.

Please contact reception to arrange the week of arrival.

Do you offer late check-out?

Yes, late check-out is available subject to availability. If you would like to check out late please get in touch the week of your booking to arrange. 

Late check-out for touring and camping is at 2 pm for an extra £10. If you wish to check out at 8 pm, there is a half-day fee applicable.

Late check-out for glamping and cottage accommodation is by 3 pm for an extra £15. If you wish to check out at 8 pm, there is a half-day fee applicable. Subject to availability.

Please contact reception to arrange the week of arrival.

What happens if I arrive after hours?

Reception is open during the day at set times. If reception is closed, there is an out-of-hours telephone number on the reception door.

Upon arrival, where should I go?

Reception is on the left as you arrive through the front gate. Please come to reception to check in. If reception is closed, there is an out-of-hours telephone number on the reception door.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please visit our Terms and Conditions.

How do I book again for next year?

Many of our guests choose to re-book their next holiday at reception on check-out. Depending on when guests are booking, online booking might not be available. Please book at reception or by phone. Online bookings for the next year will be available online from the July prior to the year of your stay.

How do I get to the holiday park?

From Norwich: 

  • Take the A140 towards Cromer.
  • 5 miles beyond Aylsham, turn right towards Suffield Green, signposted White Post Road.
  • The site is 1/2 mile on the right.

From Kings Lynn:

  • Take the A148 towards Cromer.
  • Turn right onto the B1436 towards Roughton.
  • Then join the A140 towards Norwich.
  • 2 miles beyond Roughton, turn left towards Suffield Green, signposted White Post Road.
  • The site is 1/2 mile on the right.
Is the park family-friendly?

Yes, we are definitely a family-friendly site. Many of our family guests have been coming to us regularly for years.

Where do we dispose of our waste?

You can find bins for general waste and recycling located near the entrance. There are also caravan/motorhome waste disposal facilities at both shower blocks. Grey waste and chemical waste.

Where can I leave a review for your site?

If you would like to leave a review for the site, please visit either Google Reviews or TripAdvisor.

Is there a map of the holiday park?

Yes. There is a site map outside of reception as well as a copy available to download here.

Is the park accessibility friendly?

We try to ensure that the site is as accessible as possible. There is wheelchair access to reception. Disabled toilets, showers, and changing facilities. However, the glamping pods and our cottages are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users.

Are the gates to the holiday park always open?

The gates are open from 7 am and close at 11 pm. The gates are on a sensor outside of those times for guests to come and go as they, please. There is also a buzzer available if there are any issues.

Are there quiet times at the holiday park?

Yes. We ask our guests to always be mindful. Especially between the hours of 11 pm and 7 am. As a family-orientated site, please be considerate of others.

Can you accommodate large family bookings?

Yes, we can. For bookings over two pitches, we’d always suggest booking directly through reception. We can then ensure we can meet your needs wherever you want to stay on-site.

How should we leave the pitch when we depart?

We take great pride in the cleanliness of our facilities. Please leave the pitch as you found it and dispose of all waste appropriately at the allocated disposal areas.

Is there an electric hook-up for pitches?

Yes, there is electric hook-up at our caravan and camping pitches. We have 76 deluxe electric hook-up pitches.

Are there WC & shower facilities onsite?

We’re often praised for our shower block facilities and cleanliness. There are two main shower and WC blocks at opposite sides of the site, each block has underfloor heating and plenty of room to shower and dress privately. There are also plug sockets available for hairdryers.

There are additional shower and WC pods for the private use of our glamping guests.

These are positioned at both the Bell Tents and the woodland Mega Pods.

Luxury glamping pods include a shower-room within the accommodation.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes, there is. The Wi-Fi code on site is DeersGwifi1. Please be aware it is limited to 5 MB per second.

Can I buy a disposable BBQ and charcoal onsite?

Yes, disposable BBQs, charcoal for BBQs, and Calor gas are available at reception.

Can I use a BBQ any time of year?

Yes, you can. Please be mindful, however, if we are suffering an extreme dry spell BBQs will not be allowed.

Are there washing-up facilities onsite?

Yes, there is an undercover washing-up area at each of the shower blocks for guest use.

Can I buy wood onsite?

Yes, wood is available to purchase for the firepits at reception.

Where can I buy groceries?

Our on-site shop supplies the majority of basics you’d expect to be available along with local produce, including fresh eggs from our farm.

You’ll find a selection of supermarkets all within 5 miles. In Aylsham, you’ll find Tesco and Budgens. In Cromer, there is a Morrisons, Lidl, and Co-op. In North Walsham, you’ll find Waitrose, Sainsbury, and Lidl.

There is also a general convenience store at Roughton Garage 1 mile away.

Are there laundry facilities onsite?

Yes, there is a laundry area with two washing machines and two dryers at each of the shower blocks for guest use.

Is smoking permitted?

Smoking is permitted in the outside areas only with ashtrays in the picnic area and sand-filled plant pots at the shower blocks. Please be mindful of disposal. Smoking is NOT allowed in the glamping or cottage accommodation.

Is there an electric vehicle charge point?

Yes, we have one electric vehicle charge point. It’s a Fast Charger that works with the Monta Charge App.

What is the mobile signal like at the site?

As we’re in a rural location, the signal is a little strained. We find EE and 3 are the best providers for signal. However, it’s always best to check with your mobile provider.

Do you allow day visitors?

Yes, we do. There is a £2 per day per person charge. Please speak to reception.

Do you allow open fires?

Open fires are permitted as long as raised off the ground appropriately. Guests are welcome to bring a firepit or we have a number available at reception.

Do you have fire pits?

Yes, there are fire pits supplied at the glamping areas. We also have fire pits available at reception if staying onsite at one of the pitches.

Where is the nearest ATM?

The closest ATM is at Roughton Garage approximately one mile away.

Are there local bus routes close by?

Yes, there is. The X44 & 44 on A140. These buses run every half hour and stop between Alby and Roughton. You can easily travel to Cromer and Sheringham etc & Norwich in the opposite direction.

Are there local Taxi firms?

Yes, there are. Take a look at the pinboard in reception or please just ask at reception for recommendations.

What walking or cycling trails are nearby?

As we’re in a rural location there are many lovely walks and cycling trails nearby. We have a small woodland walk on site but if you’re looking to venture further we can provide a map with where we recommend locally. Please ask reception. We’d recommend the Norfolk Coast Path and Cycleway that stretches from Hunstanton to Cromer. You’d need to drive to the coast. The full walk is a long way, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the walk in smaller chunks. Plus, you can catch the Coasthopper bus on the way back to where you have parked.

How far is the nearest beach?

The closest beaches are Overstrand (6 miles), Cromer (6.5 miles), West Runton (8.5 miles), Mundsley (9 miles), and Sea Palling (17 miles).

Where is the nearest shopping centre?

Cromer and Sheringham have a nice selection of local shops. For a shopping experience and a day out, the best place to shop is Norwich city centre which is 18 miles away. You’ll find big brand names as well as independents down Norwich’s quieter lanes and streets. Plus, you can take in some history by visiting Norwich Castle and Norwich Cathedral at the same time.

What dining options are available onsite?

There is no dining available onsite, however, during bank holidays, school holidays, and the summer we arrange a number of food vendors to visit the site. Enjoy the delights of wood-fire pizza, gourmet burgers, bubble waffles, homemade cakes, and more. Take a look at What's on for latest information.

Can you recommend a good restaurant, public house, or takeaway?

Locally you’ll find The Cricketers in Aldborough, Banningham Crown, The Gunton Arms, and The Suffield Arms. Each offers lovely food, but you will need to book in advance. For something a little less formal there’s Alby Craft’s Artisan Cafe. Traditional pubs include The Spread Eagle and The Alby Horse Shoe Inn. We’d also recommend The Black Boys in Aylsham and The Bucks Arms at Blickling. If it’s a takeaway you’re after, we’d suggest visiting Just Eat for an up-to-date list of delivery options.

Where is the closest pub?

The Alby Horse Shoe Inn is the closest pub. It’s on the main A140 road, however, we can recommend a more scenic walk to get there. It’s approximately 1.8 miles from the site.

Where can I hire bikes?

Bike hire is available through a local business, Huff and Puff Cycles. Simply get in touch and they will deliver to you at Deer’s Glade. Please give 48 hours' notice to avoid disappointment. Take a look at their website for prices. Give them a call to make a booking on 07500 865095.

What sort of kids' activities are available?

The play area includes two climbing frames complete with a fireman's pole, slide, and balance beams. There is also a spinning seat, basket swing, and a well-kept sand pit. Great for younger kids.

Our fishing lake is for all the family. You’ll need a license and permits are available to purchase at reception.

You can also meet Ragnar, Hugh, Sandy, Daphne, and Emma at our onsite goat enclosure. A firm favourite with our younger guests. Food to feed the goats can be purchased at reception.

Our site is very family friendly. There’s room to run, play games, and be kids.

Where can I fish?

There is our 1-acre fishing lake onsite. Norfolk as a whole offers a wide choice for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Visit the nearby Norfolk Broads or fish off the pier at Cromer. Learn more about fishing in Norfolk here.

Can anyone fish on your site or is it guests only?

We welcome visitors onsite also as long as they have a license. Please visit reception on arrival to pay permit fees.

Do I need a fishing license to fish at the lake?

Yes, a license is required.

How much does it cost to fish?

There is a permit price for fishing at the lake. Payment can be made at reception.

  • Adult - one rod - £7/day or £20/week
  • Adult - two rods - £7.50/day or £20/week
  • Child - £4/day or £10/week

Can I hire equipment to fish?

Sorry, but no. You’ll need to bring your own equipment.

Do you sell fishing bait?

We sell bait at the on-site shop. Please take a look at our fishing rules for appropriate bait to use.

What fish are stocked in the lake?

The lake is well-stocked with Carp, Tench, Perch, Bream, Roach, and Rudd.

dog friendly faqs

Can I bring my dog to the site?

Yes, definitely! We are a very dog-friendly site. Dogs are permitted to camp, caravan, or glamp in our luxury glamping retreats. Unfortunately, no dogs are allowed in the Bell Tents, Mega Pods, or Camping Pods.

Can I add a dog to my booking?

Yes, you can. A dog costs £1 per night on pitches.

Can I bring more than one dog to the luxury glamping retreats or cottage accommodation?

Please contact reception and we’ll confirm.

I’ve heard that when staying in the Luxury Glamping Retreats, dogs receive a welcome pack?

Yes, they do indeed! However, you will need to let us know when you book as these are only provided if stated on the booking. The doggy welcome pack includes a blanket, towel, and bowl for the duration of their stay (not to be taken home), as well as a packet of Pooch’s treats.

What's available onsite for my dog?

As a dog-friendly site we have tried to cater well for the needs of our doggy guests. You'll find plenty of local walks nearby as well as an exercise paddock at Muntjac Meadow. Read our blog about what makes our site dog-friendly.
